Munster, IN–The hugely popular musical play about legendary country singer Patsy Cline and her most devoted fan, ALWAYS… PATSY CLINE kicks off Theatre at the Center’s 2012 season. Based on a true story of this unparalleled pioneer for female performers and a fan from Houston she befriended in a Texas honky-tonk, the production previews February 23, opens February 26 and runs through April 1. ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE will be directed by Brian Russell. Russell, making his Theatre at the Center debut, is theformer Artistic Director of American Theater Company and Director of the 1996 Chicago Premiere of ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE which transferred from Northlight Theatre in Evanston to a lengthy commercial run at Chicago’s Apollo Theater. ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE stars LA Ovation Award winner and three-time Jeff Award nominee Michelle Duffy as “Patsy” and two-time Jeff Award Winner Janelle Snow as “Louise”.
Written and originally directed by Ted Swindley, ALWAYS… PATSY CLINE has enjoyed great success over the United States, including a popular run Off-Broadway. One of the most produced musicals in America according to American Theatre Magazine,ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE has also been enjoyed by audiences internationally in Canada, the UK and Australia.
ALWAYS… PATSY CLINE is a tribute to Patsy Cline’s true friendship with Louise Seger, a fan from Houston. Having first heard Cline on the “Arthur Godfrey Show” in 1957, Seger became an immediate and avid fan of hers. In 1961, when Cline went to Houston for a show, Seger and her friends arrived early for a show and met Cline. The two women struck up a friendship and remained pen pals until Cline’s untimely death in a 1963 plane crash at the age of 30.
This musical play offers fans who remember Cline while she was alive a chance to look back, and give new fans an idea of what Cline was like and what she meant to her fans. The title comes from the closing in all of Patsy’s letters to Louise – “Love always, Patsy Cline.” Complete with humor and true emotion, this 1960s tribute includes many of Patsy’s unforgettable hits such as Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams, and Walking After Midnight.
Michelle Duffy is returning to the Chicago area with this production, where she began her acting career working at theaters such as The Goodman, Northlight, Drury Lane Oakbrook, Wisdom Bridge, and Milwaukee Rep. Since that time, she has appeared in lead roles on distinguished stages throughout the west coast including The Old Globe, La Jolla Playhouse, South Coast Repertory, The Ahmanson, Pasadena Playhouse, American Conservatory Theater, Theatreworks, and Berkeley Rep. She’s been the recipient of an LA Ovation Award, Bay Area Theatre Critics’ Circle Award, BackStage Garlands, and is still exceedingly proud of her 3 Jeff Award nominations. Duffy has originated roles in seven world premieres-including the Broadway-bound Leap of Faith and, most recently, the new Burt Bacharach/Steven Sater musical Some Lovers. Her current screen credits include TheCloser, House, Desperate Housewives and the voice of the mom on Kellogg’s musical webisodes, Cereality.

Support SMI’s 8th grade class as they raise funds for their spring field trip to Chicago. An 8th grade tradition, the entire class has their last "field trip" as students of St. Mary Immaculate school to Chicago for three days and two nights.
It’s an opportunity to experience, to tie in, the many interesting things about the great City of Chicago that the 8th grade teachers, Mrs. Feigh and Mrs. Hamer, have included in what the students studied throughout the school year. They’ll visit sites such as The Frank Lloyd Wright Museum, (Willis) Sears Tower, The Chicago Board of Trade, The Chicago Stock Exchange, Lincoln Park Zoo, Millennium Park, Navy Pier, the Pullman District and many other great things Chicago has to offer.
Throughout the school year, the 8th graders hold fundraisers to help defray the cost of the trip. The Spaghetti Dinner is one of the last main events the 8th graders hold as a class and requires a lot of hard work and time from both students and their parents.
